Crew Scheduling System
Visually manage crews and collaborate to tackle planning challenges
BPC CRS is a solution designed to facilitate the process of crew scheduling and long term planning for multiple vessels, ranks and seafarers, targeting Marine Personnel departments across the shipping industry. It provides an extended planning time-frame while in parallel satisfying the increasingly complex regulatory, legal and quality constraints on vessel crews.
The CRS User Experience is provided through a web browser making it easy for remote users or users using tablet devices to view and change the plan. CRS supports integration with all data (like the crew lists, complements, ranks, seafarer’s availability etc.) in existing systems.
Assignment handling is performed via drag and drop gestures to resize, move or reassign specific assignments. Seafarers are displayed in a selection pane and can be moved to any scheduling slot by dragging and dropping. The Seaman Selection pane is dynamically filtered when a scheduling position is selected in the scheduling pane according to regulatory or business rules that may apply to the specific vessel. The seaman selection pane can be filtered according to specific criteria (onboard or not, experience level, certifications etc.) and is grouped by rank and availability.
If a future slot cannot be filled with one of the available seafarers the planning user can create a “Virtual Seafarer” with the appropriate characteristics and use it in the plan, while at the same time recording the recruitment need.
